Camera Strap Slip Cover

My first sewing project with my new sewing machine was this . . .

(oh how I love my new camera)

I must say it turned out cute. I am not a sewer and I have done a few things here and there like these bow ties but I was nervous to do this. Yes, I did run over to ask my cute neighbor a few questions but for the most part I did it all on my own. So, if I can do it, TRUST me when I say you can to. 


They fit any standard DSLR camera strap, (Canon/Nikon) my strap is about 2" wide. 

1. Cut two strips 2.75" by 27" long.

2. Sew the strips right sides together, then press seam open.

3. I made mine padded with Pellon fusible light fleece interfacing. You need about 5.5"by 27". This is optional of course, I like the feel of the padding, but you can skip this step if you don't mind the hard strap. Iron on the fusible interfacing according to directions, and trim excess. Or if you are like me and don't want to take the time to read the directions just know there is a soft side to the fusible fleece and a rough side. Iron on the rough side to the wrong side of the fabric.

BUT REMEMBER to take out any pins first because you may miss one like me and spend forever looking for it because you are afraid the next time your baby crawls on the floor he will find it and put it in his mouth. After 5 minutes of looking you start to smell something . . . . . yes that would be the pin melting on the iron.

 4. Fold one end in about one inch, and then again over one inch to hide the seam and make a clean finish.

5. Sew edge down for a clean finish, I sewed three lines, 1/4" apart so the ends will be more sturdy and it looks more polished. (but don't look too close because my lines weren't perfectly straight)

6. Do the same thing on the other end, the finished strap after the ends are finished will be about 23" long.

7. Sew right sides together with a 1/4" seam allowance. If you think the finished cover will be too big for your strap, you can make a wider seam allowance to make the cover thinner. Keep in mind you want the cover about half an inch or so bigger than the strap, so its easy to slide on and off. 

9. Turn inside out (the hardest part) and iron. If you want to add any embellishments now is the time and then your done. Slide in your camera strap and viola.

S'more Station

My neighbors invited us to a last minute BBQ so I only had a hour or so to pull this together. It turned out cute and simple. I will show you pictures of the S'more Station and some other ideas (if I had time) I think would of been cute to add.

My hubby likes to add a brownie in his instead of the chocolate. So My neighbor brought over some amazing Texas Sheet Cake to add to my S'more Station.

Computer is Back!!

The title of this post says it all.... I am excited to show you my mini S'more Station, a craft project, and my pictures for the photo challenge. Stay tuned!

Photo Challenge

I am a day late posting this because my new computer is in the shop with all my pictures and so I am stuck writing on my husbands ghetto computer that decides when the keyboard will work or not. So, please forgive me ( I know you were really upset lol)

So for the past while I have been babysitting 5 children and for those that blog with that many kids kudos to you. I felt like I cooked, cleaned up, and then it was time to cook again. . . . no time for blogging. BUT there was time to make some BIG purchases. I have been saving up for a while for two items and I couldn't decide which one to get because I could not afford both. Well, with a little help from my good friend KSL classifieds and Costco I sold my old camera and with that money I could afford both. Now you are wondering what they are..... DRUM ROLL . . . . . .

THIS and THIS

With my first purchase it is still in the box and I am in need of sewing lessons. The 2nd purchase is already being used in this challenge. . . . (anyone else what to do it?)

As soon as I get my computer back I will get caught up and post my pictures for day 1,2, and 3. (hopefully I will get my computer back by then.)

Coupons

   

  I am now officially "just" a stay at home mom. I love when people ask you what do you do or why are you quiting your job and then they say oh "just a mom." This is a full time job baby. I have taken on this roll head on. I am on a mission to make money through other venues one of which is by saving money on what I spend the most money on each month: parties FOOD.

   I watch the TLC show Extreme Couponing and I know I will never take that much time or go to that extreme but I have found that taking one hour before my shopping trip saves me a lot of money. I have recently found a few tips that you may already know or may not so I thought I would share.

   First one is if you have a smart phone or Iphone you MUST get this free app. It is called Coupons Sherpa

It will give you a list of stores that have online coupons they can scan right from your phone or get the promotion code. I know I am not the only one who forgets to take the store coupons when heading out the door and when you get to your destination you say, "aw crap." The have all kinds of stores from office max to Express at the mall. Speaking of Express, the other day I went there and bought 2 pairs of pants and thought I am going to check if there is any promotion going on and sure enough my phone had a 25 dollars off a purchase of 75 dollars. BAM right then and their they scanned my phone and I was so gitty. Another thing is bath and body works was giving away with no purchase necessary a free bottle of lotion and of course I forgot my print out. I just showed them my phone and now my legs are nice and moisturized :)

 OKAY so now to food. I found this cool website that you can type in your grocery list and your area code and it will tell you where each item is on sale and the price. Then I will print that and take it to Wal-Mart and it makes coupon matching a lot easier. The website also will link you to other coupons such as coupons.com. the website is called http://www.allyou.com/.

I love this blog and I signed up for her daily emails on coupons and that also helps a lot. Go check it out.

NOW I recently learned a few things about one of my favorite store TARGET. I had no idea the also do price matching. I just read THIS article all about how to save money at Target and I HIGHLY recommend reading it if you shop there frequently. The best thing I took from the article is they have online coupons (which Wal-mart will accept) but you can print them at the store so you don't have to waist your ink and paper.

When Life Gives You Lemons...
